Heirloom art made with ❤
At Neko-jin Designs, we specialize in handmade home décor and gifts for all seasons! In spring time, we celebrate cats with our unique lineup of sleeping felines. In summer we honor the trials and triumphs of our LGBTQIA+ community with our diverse selection of pride merchandise. As autumn approaches, we delve into the creepy and mysterious with our expansive assortment of cryptid and folklore-themed décor. We round out the year with Old World charm, channeling the arts of our European ancestors in a collection of folk-inspired winter delights.
ただいま!
When we incorporated in 2007, we chose the name Tadaima, Inc.
Tadaima (pronounced tah-dah-ee-mah) is Japanese for ‘I’m home’--and that’s exactly how we hope you feel when you shop with us. You’re more than customers and patrons; you’re friends. You’re family. You’re home. ❤
Neko-jin (pronounced neh-ko-jin) Designs is helmed by a pair of queer nerds on a simple mission:
To create and curate the things we want to see in the world, nurturing a safe, welcoming atmosphere for everyone, and encouraging folks to be proud of who they are!
We make the majority of our items by hand in our Midcoast Maine studio, often relying on other small business for raw materials and elements that inspire our creations. Our Asian imports are thoughtfully curated with a focus on lucky cats and happy, functional housewares.
For over a decade, we were a staple vendor at anime, gaming, and cultural festivals around the United States, and specifically New England. 2020 changed the way we we do business, giving us the opportunity to focus more effort and attention to our online community. While we no longer travel as extensively as we once did, we can still be found at select events throughout the year. Join us on social media or sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date on where to find us!
We’re so excited to have you here with us! Much love,
-Chris & Matilda
(and Bruce & Jase)
Meet the crew!
Chris
Chris [they/them] is a passionate storyteller powered by chocolate and optimism. They have an enduring love of folklore, folk art, and dinosaurs and enjoy making things with their hands. They’re a third generation folkartist painting in the tradition of their European ancestors.
Matilda
Matilda [she/they] is a traditional artist that enjoys drawing, turtles, and daily walks to the ocean. She’s a hard-working Capricorn that’s been happily playing the same PC game for the last twelve years with no intention of altering course…unless they come out with another expansion pack….
Bruce
Bruce [he/him] spends the majority of his days in search of The Greatest Sunbeam. When not engaged in this epic quest, he can be found diligently managing the human artists and keeping Jase in line. He takes his night job of keeping the studio safe from Secret Mouse Agents very seriously.
Jase
Jase [she/gremlin] is NJD’s newest member and is learning to follow in her senpai’s footsteps. While she currently excels at hiding in boxes and tackling the unsuspecting, she has aspirations of catching at least one of the flying feathered things in the tree outside her sleep spot.
